I may fail

I've had a pretty rough week since returning from vacation but found myself with a surprising open Saturday.  I did have a haircut but then completely open.  I decided after my haircut to go see my "convict kitties" at the adoption center.  They went out for adoption on Thursday.

When I got there, it is like looking for your kids after the first day of kindergarten.  My eyes are darting past kitty names and looking at the cats there to see if I recognize any.  The first room was adult cats but the other room was full of kittens.  Far back in the corner, I see a white nose.  So I went in.  It didn't take me long to see it was Reggae.....my white foster kitten.  He was bigger than last I saw him 3 weeks ago.  His eyes were blue last I saw but now they are turning green.  In just a quick second, he was in my arms.

I'm not sure he recognized me but he cuddled with me like no tomorrow.  He laid like a baby in my arms for a bit while I pet his face.  Then he looked at me and curled up under my chin.  He was purring like crazy.  We cuddled for about 10 minutes.  He kept swirling in my arms finding different ways to love on me.

At one point, a guy asked me if he could hold him.  I gave him up and told him what a great cat he was when I fostered him (that isn't true really).  He decided to reject him because his eyes are still a little...wet.  So I picked Reggae back up and held him more.  Little shit learned some adoption center skills while he was gone from me.  Who wouldn't want a kitty that snuggled like that??

I didn't want to get called out and the room was getting crowded so I left the colony room and went to the admin office to talk to them.  JC was adopted within hours of hitting the floor.  Hip Hop and Dub Step were adopted together yesterday by an older couple that wanted 2 kitties that already got along. I am so happy they went together.

But Reggae is still there.  And he seemed much better than when I fostered him.  And I want him.  I managed to get out of there without him but it is very possible I will go get him if someone doesn't take him soon.  Part of me wants that to happen but part of me does not want that to happen.

He has a clean nose!!  He must have learned how to eat better.

On a side note, my Baby kitty got the virus the fosters had.  When I came home from my trip, she was a terrible mess.  Her eyes were super goopey and she was sneezing like crazy.  So off to the neighbor vet.  They confirmed the virus and gave her some antibiotics and eye cream to help ward off any bacteria.  She is starting to feel a little better.

Because my cat caught the virus, it confirms the virus is in my house so I have been removed from the foster home list for the rest the season.  They also asked me to not volunteer at the Kitten Nursery so I don't re-expose the virus there.  I wanted to finish out the season and hoped to get another litter before the end of the season but maybe it is just for the best.  I guess I am no longer a crazy cat lady for awhile......unless I go get Reggae.  And if I get him, his name will be Alfred.  He looks like an Alfred to me.  I could call him Fred.  How cute is that??

UPDATE:  I didn't go back and get Alfred although I watched the adoption boards closely.  He was adopted 2 days after my visit.  It is probably for the best.  I barely missed the crazy cat lady bus....thank god.  It almost ran right over me!
