Fast forward 2 weeks and I got in to see my favorite ENT/Plastic Surgeon Dr. S. I've not seen him for over a year which is fantastic because that means I've been staying relatively healthy. He took one look and told me my nose was broken. The cartlidge is broken and the septum is off to the side. My heart sunk.
You might know I had a broken nose long ago and had the septum fixed many years ago. It is a painful and unpleasant surgery. The recovery is hard. So I am upset I need to go through it again. But Dr. S said if we do it quickly, the surgery won't be so bad because they won't have to re-break my nose to fix it. So I am having surgery on February 5. That is the soonest Friday I am available. I will be in a nose splint for 6 days. I will also have to have general anesthesia which is tricky for me. But I did okay with the anesthesia for surgery last year so I will be hopeful we can cruise through it again. He said the surgery is too involved for conscious sedation. Yikes!
I was kind of surprised to see the photos. They tell the story.

This too will pass. And I will be glad to be able to breathe again. Luckily Mom is available to help me that weekend. I am so glad she can help me and is always at the ready. Thank you Mom.
