on dasher, on dancer, on PRANCER!

I had a fun little surprise the week before Christmas.  On Wednesday, I got a call from Best Friends Fosters.  They asked if I was interested in fostering an adult cat!  Well of course I am.  So I went down that afternoon and picked up the kitty.  He had just had a big dental appointment and was terrified of people.  They called him a "Grumpy Old Man".  He was not thriving at the nursery (they house adult cats over the winter) and sat with his face buried in the back corner of the kennel.  I picked up a few supplies and brought this big boy home.

Meet Prancer....

Prancer is a big boy!  I have no idea what he weighs but I am pretty sure it is somewhere around 20 lbs.  For the first day, he mostly stayed in his kennel.  He really enjoyed being pet but was so incredibly scared.  If I really worked with him, I could get him to come out for a few minutes.

It wasn't long (the next day) that he figured out that if he comes out, he can snuggle and be pet.  There is food and water too.  I have him in my master bath so he gets peace and quiet. He is a quiet kitty. He doesn't growl, hiss, or yowl.  In fact, it was just recently that he started meowing at all.  It is usually when he hears me close by and it's been awhile since he got pets.

Before I knew, it, we are best friends.  He loves to sit on my lap.  He loves to be held in my arms.  In fact, I'm pretty sure that is what he wants all day long.  He purrs so loud and he gives loves so cute!

After a week and a half, I got tired of spending so much time in the bathroom.I got brave and let him out in my bedroom.  I'm supposed to wait for 2 weeks before doing that but he seemed okay and I just didn't want to spend another few hours in the bathroom each day.  As you can guess, he loves coming out.  I thought he would just go hide but he didn't.  He wanders around and gets in the kitty toy basket.  He jumps on the bed and snuggles.  And now, he figured out how to get under the covers and spends quite a bit of time in there.  In his defense, it is cold in my bedroom and bathroom so he probably loves getting warm.

Checking himself out in the mirror.  He likes to see himself.
This kitty is a sweetheart.  He is beautiful and his fur is so soft.  I've not introduced him to my cats yet but they are very well aware of each other.  It is obvious he is a big mostly white kitty so that really pulls at my heart.  I'll have him another week or two.  I hope I can turn him in when done.  I'm really enjoying fostering an adult kitty.  So much less work than a litter of kittens!

What a fun holiday thing.  Kitty Christmas Loves!
