Graduation 2015

It finally came.  Philip's High School graduation!!  Yesterday was the big day and boy did it go by in a blur.  I took Philip out to lunch at the Dodo.  Then we got our stuff together and headed down to Energy Solutions Arena.  They were churning through graduations at the arena.  They were running late with West High so we waited and waited.  But we finally got in the building and got settled.  Philip went with the graduates and the parents and families could sit anywhere in the building.  I didn't want to do stairs so I found a comfy spot right in the entrance without stairs.  It was far back but dead on.  Ryan and the girls came and found me and sat with me.  Ryan has a very fancy camera with a strong zoom lens.

They actually did a great job clipping along the program.  Before we knew it, there was the graduating class walk. They had over 300 in the class and they did it in alphabetical order.
This is when being a Redmond isn't very fun.  But we patiently waited.  I kept an eye on the graduates that have been part of Philip's school life.   It is fun to see the kids that he met in elementary and middle school making such a huge step.  And sad for those that didn't make it to the end for whatever reason.

I had my camera all ready for when Philip walked but dang if it didn't focus and would not take more that 1 crappy shot when the time actual came.  Such is my luck!  But hopefully Ryan got some good shots.  He is supposed to share with me later today.  Once he does, I'll update with more photos.

I'm so incredibly proud of Philip.  He did it!  He graduated with Honor, member of the Honor's Society (so he got a blue sash), and 3 chords.  1 for having above a 3.7 the entire high school years (he has a 3.89 unweighted), and 2 for finishing his CTE programs (wood shop and culinary arts).  He also got a medal to wear as a Utah Scholar.  And to top it all off, he received a Presidental Award from Barack Obama!  It was his 3rd while in High School.  Not too shabby for a kid that hated High School and would rather have a root canal then do homework!!

Going through the reception of faculty.  My J (shop teach) is behind
Philip with the beard.  He has had a huge impact on
Philip's interest. and wants Philip to come over the summer to make stuff.

Hugging Ms Welch.  Another huge positive impact on Philip.

Ms Watrin.  Such good influences

He didn't want a graduation party.  We are headed to Washington DC tomorrow for a graduation trip.  His Dad is having a BBQ today and has invited me.  Of course I will go celebrate my fantastic child!  I also took Philip to get a new phone for a gift.  He has been hankering for one for months and months.

So congratulations Philip.  You are a total rock star!  You amaze me and I know you can do and be anything you want once you set your mind to it.  I can't wait to see what you choose.

Now let's PARTY!!

We've taken photos here for the first day of school for
many years.  Seemed only right to end it this way too.
