I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I cooked for Dad. We had a great meal and it was delicious if I say so myself. I think those few weeks of pre-Thanksgiving cooking shows on TV helped me prepare a turkey breast that was not only flavorful but....ummmm....moist. I know people don't like the word moist but I do think it is the only word that fits for a turkey breast is that word. Please forgive me. It made a delicious left over turkey sandwich too!
I don't take the newspaper anymore and I was too busy in the morning yesterday to even think of getting a paper. So when Dad left last night at 7:15, I thought....hey...just in time to start shopping!!! But I had no idea where to go or what I should be getting. So I watched a Christmas movie I had recorded. I thought about calling Nola because I know she loves the Black Friday sales and I was sure she was out and about but I resisted the urge just in case she was sleeping. I set my alarm for 9:00 am this morning to head over to Dr. S office but woke up at 8:00 thinking I missed the sales. Luckily Nola texted me and shared her shopping adventures. I couldn't help feeling I was missing out.
So I headed to Dr. S office to get my stitches out (more on that in a minute), and there it was, the 50 lb paper from yesterday by his office door outside! As I left, I picked it up and went through the ads (I put it back when I was done). There were so many ads....and fun deals to be had but it was already almost 11:00 so I missed most the sales. As I read through it, there were a few things I would have liked to get like an outdoor firepit (wanted one for a few years) and some remote control battery candles for my fireplace (so I don't have to bend over to light then and blow them out). Oh and Lowe's Hardware had a platform ladder for $17!!! Looked so fun but realistically, I probably wouldn't use it. Since I wasn't going out, I decided knowing I didn't miss anything much was good to know.
At Dr. S office, his nurse Tammy (who is the one the helped orchestrate my quick surgery schedule) was there. She removed most my stitches. She said my swelling wouldn't be so bad if I slept elevated and on my back. Yeah. I knew that but I can't sleep like that. Dr. S came in and took some of the last difficult stitches out. When he walked in, he said "Wow, I bet that was swollen shut". Yeah...pretty close. He said the pathology came back as Lymphoma but slow growing...as I knew. He will send the report to Dr. L (my oncologist). He said I can't tug on my incision for at least another week and the swelling should go down over the next month. I asked him about the dent. He said he was pretty aggressive removing the lump and the dent should level out some over time. He didn't seem worried about it at all...but then again, he is a plastic surgeon. I'm sure if it doesn't fill in, he will have some cosmetic solution if I want. I think the swelling is still significant and when that goes down, it should look better. And I would guess the fat will sort of moosh out and be more smooth. So sad I have a fat eyebrow!
Here is a photo from today after the stitches came out. I still have the dark line. Honestly, it is dried blood. I will start using Neosporin and that should help get that off. He is sure it will heal fine and not show. I am happy the bruising has gone down even more. You can imagine I'll be happy as it gets even better. It is still tough to go around without sunglasses on. And I am a little tired of the eye droop from the swelling. I know...such a whiner.
Today I am going to putter around the house. It is all clean still from yesterday so I get to play! I have a strong urge to clean and organize but I don't know that I have the stamina for that. I think I have a turkey hangover! Haha. I hope everyone is enjoying the day and starting to feel the holiday spirit. It is time you know!
I am so glad you posted your progress on your eyebrow. It looks a lot better this week and will probably be less swollen soon. I'm sorry you missed out on the Black Friday sales, but think of the money you saved. Hope you enjoy your weekend.
